| SATURDAY, APRIL 24TH, END OF SEASON FESTIVITIES |
| The Kai Yang Challenge 2010 |
After the Argentine navy sank their boat, they thought might have better luck at beating “the Girls”. The teams assembled on the field, in blue were the “Chickadees” with Robin, Camille, Susy and Augustin. The Bad Boys resplendent in yellow with Marco, Churo, Tomy and Tui. Unfortunately history has a way of repeating itself….7/2 and 4 chukkas later….better luck next year boys! |

| The great Polo Escape Boat Race 2010 |
A crowd of several people and a couple of dogs turned out to see four crews compete for honours at the 2010 Polo Escape Boat Race. Months of training and preparation by the teams had not taken place, and it was soon clear that the winners would be the team that managed to stay afloat the longest. |
| An early casualty was the Adamas boat, crewed by Paul and Robin, which withdrew before the race began, citing "irreconcileable differences" regarding paddling technique, and a desire by Paul not to get his shirt wet. |
| |
| |
The Argentinian Navy entry, crewed by Marco and Augustin, experimented with dog ballast as a potential aid to stability; but this was deemed illegal by the race stewards |
| |
| |
A shame, because, without the dog, the Argentinian entry proved incapable of remaining upright for more than a couple of minutes. Rumours that this was due to "excessive eating" during training were denied by the crew. |
| |
| |
| |
And so to the start, where the Argentinian Navy immediately sank, leaving two crews to fight for honours. |
| |
| |
Early leaders were Team Thailand, crewed by Khun Pat and Khun Fai. Unfortunately, they came under attack from the Argentinian Navy (note the suspicious pair of hands at the back of their capsizing boat). |
| |
| |
| |
This left The Love Boat, crewed by Churo and Camille, as the only floating competitor. Their ability to reach the finish was in doubt as they spent much of their time going round in circles, (but in a very loving way and they never argued...)
| |
| |
| But their constant rotating allowed the Argentinian Navy to close in, and they eventually joined everyone else in the water. |
| |
An impressive display of seamanship by nobody, we can only hope that standards are not higher next year because
it was very funny to watch.

The
James Ashton Memorial Chukkas
March 14, 2010 – Polo Escape |
| |
| James
touched the lives of many people around the
globe, in and outside the Polo world, of all
ages, nationalities and backgrounds. His enthusiasm
for Polo, warmth towards other people and sheer
friendliness was infectious and inspiring. |
As an interim President of FIP, James was keen
to see the development of Polo in the FIP Zone
D, especially in light of the forthcoming World
Cup qualifying tournament in Malaysia. In addition,
his main mission to Thailand was to bring together
the three polo families in Thailand. |
We would like to commemorate James Ashton in
a Memorial Chukkas to be played at Polo Escape
on the 14th of March 2010. Although the definitive
format of these chukkas is not yet confirmed,
handicaps will not be of importance and players
will have the opportunity to play at least one
chukka. |
We would like you to confirm if you are going
to participate in the James Ashton Memorial
Chukkas on the 14th of March, 2010. Kindly respond
no later than the 5th of March, 2010 to Mr.
Marco Focaccia (marcofocaccia@hotmail.com

Fantastic teams came together for this year's 3 days event, putting
on an amazing show of polo for the spectators. All the teams were
very close, especially
the King Power team with the young Thai national players very much
holding their own against all the experienced high goalers.
The finals saw Kuppa dual it out with Harilela TNL, Kuppa finally
inching away in the last chukka and winning the trophy.
